Thank you for visiting the website of Michael Craft, an author residing in Rancho Mirage, California. As a mystery writer, he is best known for the Mark Manning” series, the Claire Gray” series, and the “Mister Puss” series. His current “Dante & Jazz” series features a gay white ex-actor who teams up with a straight Black female ex-cop to solve murders in Palm Springs; the first book in the series, Desert Getaway, was honored by the Mystery Writers of America with a 2023 Edgar nomination for the Lilian Jackson Braun Memorial Award; the second installment, Desert Deadline, was a Gold Winner of the IBPA Benjamin Franklin Award. In other pursuits, Michael Craft has broadened his creative focus to include playwriting and screenwriting. His plays Pink Squirrels (co-authored with Burt Peachy) and Photo Flash have been produced to popular acclaim. His screen adaptation of Pink Squirrels was filmed in 2011, premiering in September of that year at the Camelot Theatres in Palm Springs. Michael Craft also directed the film and appeared in it as the gadabout raconteur, Dennis Dill.
